In that case you'd better scratch about half the planet off your list...

Although boots on the ground is the ultimate source of the level of shaking, I did hear one news report that had some so called expert who stated that given the epicenter's distance from land, and its very shallow nature, he did not expect much, if any damage to be reported.

Nope, didn't feel it at all, which is a little surprising, something that size that close usually causes a jiggle and a giggle.

I don't mean any bravado, here redtick. I've lived in many different earthquake areas in my life and been in 3 that were scary as hell. Southern Baja has a calmer history than say, SoCal. There's lots of very old structures in La Paz, a good clue that a) sturdy homes can be built b) damaging shakers are rare.
(The family crystal doesn't count). There are some newer developments, however, that I think are downright insane.
Lots of factors to consider in deciding if moving to Baja is the right thing for you, earthquakes probably not among the more important ones.

Well, I did remind her that we've had earthquakes here, but they were all under 4.

We were three miles from the epicenter of the Sylmar quake. Shook like hell. Spent most of a day not knowing if we would have to evacuate because of damage to the Van Norman Dam.

In my work, I was one of the first in the area affected by the Loma Prieta quake, being there specifically to deal with damages in San Benito County. No electricity. Bottled water only. A number of significant aftershocks. May have beem the only time I slept with my shoes on.

And then, I had the great (mis)fortune to be living just five miles from the epicenter of the Northridge quake.

Of course, who can forget the twin quakes out in Landers and Big Bear on the same friggin' day?

From a historical perspective, Dusty is absolutely correct about the relative insulation of South Baja from such major damaging events.

That said, Mrs. Queso Grande is probably right to fear tsunamis given the location of Rancho Ron. I would imagine that tsunamis pose a greater threat than earthquakes in that region, despite the dormant volcanoes in the area.

The good news is that we are 35+ feet above high tide. Not that it makes any difference to her of course...
