Two new narco tunnels discovered near Otay Mesa
Agencia Fronteriza de Noticias Tuesday, August 2, 2011 Carlos Miguel Gomez, Deputy Chief Operating Officer of the State Preventive Police (PEP) reported the discovery of what are apparently two "narco-tunnels," both located in the vicinity of the fence that divides the Otay Mesa area of Mexico with the United States . On Tuesday morning, members of the PEP in conjunction with the Mexican Army and the Tijuana Municipal Police arrived at the scene. The first discovery was on Salvatierra Street, less than a meter from the border fence where a tire was buried in the ground through which one entered the tunnel; one that according to Gomez was only in the early stages of construction. The deputy director of the PEP said that the tunnel had not yet reached the U.S., however the discovery was could not manage to cross into the neighboring country, however the discovery was reported to the Attorney General's Office (PGR), who already are working in coordination with U.S. authorities to investigate this case. Within the same area, just 100 meters from the first discovery at José Gálvez, the second tunnel was located within the premises of an abandoned factory which was apparently used as a facade to hide the border crossing tunnel passage, which appears to have been built and in operation since 2009, Miguel Gomez said. He added that the tunnel had probably been used previously for the crossing of drugs but at this time it appeared to be used for human trafficking, as no traces of drugs were found but there were people in the tunnel. Measurements of the first tunnel is one meter wide by 10 meters deep, while the second has a depth of 18 meters, a length of between 25 and 30 meters and was covered at the end with sacks of sand. According to workers at nearby factories, state law enforcement officers and soldiers arrived at the scene at about 8:00 am on Tuesday and said that since their first arrival the area continued to be heavily guarded. source... |

One of these days, the entire length of the border, from San Diego to the Gulf, is going to collapse and fill with water.
Ohhhh...there's that moat I've been calling for. The Mexicans are creating their own moat. OK....burn all those plans for a fence and get the 'gators ready. ![]() |
