Default The Lost Valley, Valle Perdido

Valle Perdido (S. of La Paz) has been a mining area in recent times. Instead of stamp mills, mercury, etc. modern machinery has been used, cyanide, and ball crushers to pulverize the ore. But, very very little mining is done now. Mining is hard rock, as opposed to placer mining which is panning or sluicing loose gold in waterways (or ancient waterways). Hard rock requires crushers and some method to separate the gold from pulverized rock. Vibrating tables were used at Valle Perdido, separating heavy gold from tailings. Valle Perdido also had landing strips for airplanes, diesel/gasoline powered pumps, crushers, etc. Lots of mines scattered about, empty of miners (for now).

Two mines we've explored in Valle Perdido. One still has the hose to pump out water (it is filled with water down 100 ft). The other, with the old doors, halted us down aways due to potential poison gasses.

Thumbs up Re: The Lost Valley, Valle Perdido

To history nuts like Jack and I, the gold is anywhere we find things built or made by people over 100 years ago in Baja! Mines, Missions, Petroglyphs
