Default Paying electric bill at the office, Baja Norte

Hi all,

I've searched the web and this forum, maybe someone can help.

So, you know how the mail service isn't the most reliable? It's time to pay the bill, and I don't have one to bring to an Oxxo. (For those learning, one can pay utility bills at Oxxo, a convenience store, there are many here near Rosarito/Ensenada).

I have to go to the office to pay my bill. My poor but improving spanish has ensured that the electric company website is of no help.

Does someone know where the Rosarito office is? Is there one? I can also go down to Ensenada. Any help appreciated, I'm going to Alta California for the holiday, leaving today if I can.

Thank you!

I have never been but I hear it is very difficult. If you have a previous invoice you might try taking that to Oxxo and see what happens. I know they scan the bar code, which should have your account information on it and post your current balance.

Good luck if you try to find it. I talked to one gentleman who said he tried for over a year and finally gave up. It was actually more convenient for him to pay at Oxxo, he just couldn't believe it was so hard to find.

If you have a previous bill somewhere, you can sign up online and then print out your bill every month. It will have the bar code on it. Easy peasy. That's what I do.

Bump for énfasis...

Think I found Ensenada's office online by Googling "CFE Ensenada"

Cfe Superintendencia Fax
Gastélum 1306, Centro, 22760 Ensenada,
Baja California, Mexico
+52 646 173 3817

Cfe Superintendencia Fax

Looks like 1306 Gastelum, corner of 13th a block-and-a-half north of Riveroll.

Side chuckle: Emergency page for Rosarito Beach
Rosarito Baja California

plays "Bad Boys" theme from "Cops" in the background.

Looks like there is no office in Rosarito:

CFEmáticos y oficinas de atención
Estado Baja California Ciudad Playas De Rosarito
No se encontraron oficinas o CFEmático en esta localidad.

The office in Ensenada is very user friendly Usually there is a person that greets you at the door that is fluent in english. they are very helpful.

Wow, perfect.

It doesn't get easier than having an address, pic and map!

Oxxo wouldn't take anything but a current bill, I did go in with an old one, very nice lady said she could do nothing without the bottom tear off portion of the current bill. (?)

I will look into paying online, that would be wonderful. I am not sure if I can as the electric is in the property owners name, but I will try.

Thanks for coming through, Marty, Zoe and Travelpro.

If Ensenada is your choice, there's a satellite office to pay by machine if you have your number from an old bill. The office almost always has an attendant to give assistance.
This office is behind Ley's Market which is across from Com Mex [Pelican Store] which is across the street from Costco.
Regular business hours only.

I imagine there are offices such as this in all the larger cities.

There is (was?) a a CFE office in Rosarito on the north end of town. At the traffic light thtt takes you into the WalMart/Home Depot shopping center you just keep going straight and it is (was?) on your left...

Found a terminal, the numbers on the bill didn't work, found the office as well, but when I got there at four they were closed. Lots of helpful people along the way. Will be coming back next week, lol, and now I know where everything is! Thanks again.

BG, thanks.
I'll try that first before going to the main office next week in Ensenada.

I'm glad you found the office. Yes, they close surprisingly early! But now you'll do fine.

And that's a good idea about signing up for online bills, especially if you have a printer. Then you can take it to Oxxo.

Do you already know about the tiers of cost per Kw hour? The more you use, the more each kilowatt costs. So it can pay to use more propane and only heat the area of the house you're in. I use an infra-red lamp: only 250 watts, compared to a little space heater gobbling up 3,000 watts, or prayer candles (I pray to the Angel del Infra-Rojo). Plus, you get a lot of light out of them; good for helping with seasonal affective disorder (winter blues). But we STILL haven't taken all the measures we need to get the electricity consumption down to another tier... so we ain't role models.

Do you know about the USBC? Good networking opportunity for survival tips and such. Write or call and we'll introduce you to some folks, if you like.

Happy Solstice,

Bob

I've never heard of a space heater using that much power....more often in the 1500 range.
You must be turning on a welder that your neighbor loaned you thinking it was a heater.

It sparks like crazy when I attach it to the bed frame to heat the bed. But the vibration is nice as in Motel 6.

Chunk ... like your approach to home heating ... sounds OK to me ...

Sounds like the big "D" has gotten his room attachment finished off down at Sharkey's ...

Posts have been getting a lot kinder ... with a lot more humor ...

Ya get the cement mixer back up to the house ... or ya gonna leave it at Sharkey's for large parties...

I just signed up with CFE online and as long as you have a previous bill with the billing name and service number you can register and pay your bill with MC or Visa. You can have your bills emailed to you as well, eliminating the problem I had this month when it didn't show up in the mail.

BluChunx,
Thanks for the information, I will write you re the USBC. I did not know (it did not register til now) about the tier costs.

TravelPro, excellent information. When I have the bill in front of me, I'll try that, it will save much time.

In appreciation to all,
B
