Where in Baja do you think has the best overall weather? I live in Poway east of San Diego, and the weather here is ok but the winters are just too cold. In my experience even as far down as San Quintin on the Pacific side, the winters are too similar to san diego. And San Quintin gets too hot in the summer.
If I had to vote one region, even though it's a region I don't like much because of the development, I would say hands down San Jose Del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas have the best overall weather. It's rarely as hot as Guerrero Negro/Santa Rosalia/Mulege/Loreto or La Paz in the summer, and the winters are near perfect (as is most of Baja Ca Sur in the winter). Am I just noticing abnormal seasons or do people feel that the tip of the peninsula is not as hot in the summer as most of Baja Sur? -Roger |

La Paz, Los Cabos and Todos Santos all get VERY hot in summer. I think you might like the region around Scorpion Bay, a very popular surf area. What else are you looking for besides weather?

Right now just looking at weather. Most of baja sur has a pretty mild winter. In my experience cabo has cooler summers than Mulege, Loreto or La Paz, but perhaps that's not generally the case if you live there longterm.
What part of Baja sur has the coolest summer weather for people who spend more time down there? -Roger |

Bahia Asuncion if you like the Pacific, but don't like it so cold or foggy. The Vizcaino peninsula south facing beaches seem to not get the typical Pacific gloom in the summer. bahiaasuncion.com - Home
We have vacationed a couple days there at Shari's Bed & Breakfast in 2007 and 2012 and it was great those two time (in July) when other Pacific beaches (north of Guerrero Negro to the USA) were gray and gloomy. We live in Oceanside, about 5 miles from the beach (closer to Vista) and we actually love heat, and our favorite time to go to Baja is May-October with July the best for us. We like it best south of San Felipe on the gulf coast/ desert side of Baja. About 90 in the day and the sea water is about 80... awesome! ![]() ![]()

Fortunately or unfortunately you will be receiving many replies from the "my weather/location is best" crowd. Your question is like asking "which vehicle is best for Baja"....the answer to that one is easy, a Toyota Tacoma....lol
Not knowing what weather you like or what weather suits your taste, why don't you do some internet research on historical Baja weather and past Baja weather trends, narrow your search for a place to live on that data and then start asking the questions. This will save you and everybody else a lot of time. |

Well, Uzun provides us with this: "I live in Poway east of San Diego, and the weather here is ok but the winters are just too cold. In my experience even as far down as San Quintin on the Pacific side, the winters are too similar to san diego. And San Quintin gets too hot in the summer."
I know Poway, have worked there many times, in the summer... The problem is San Quintin is far cooler than Poway in the summer... so I don't get the "is okay" (in Poway) part. I agree winters are too cold, but being near the ocean moderates the temperature, keeping it from getting too cold. The desert gets cold in the winter because it is far from the ocean and the air is dry, so temperature change much more between day and night. San Felipe (a desert town on the gulf) is great in the day, but winter nights are very cold almost to freezing. So, being close to the Pacific Ocean will be better for not getting too cold, but going south of Guerrero Negro will be warmer in the winter. So that makes the search limited to Baja California Sur. Next issue is places that get "too hot"... well if he thought San Quintin was too hot, then there is no place to meet his needs. However, I think maybe he got his locations mixed, so let's talk about really too hot (and humid) places, in the summer... and that would eliminate the entire gulf coast of Baja to Cabo San Lucas. Todos Santos on the Pacific is pretty nice, but still 'hot' in the summer... so go north from there... that brings us to places like Lopez Mateos, San Juanico (Scorpion Bay), Punta Abreojos, La Bocana, and Bahia Asuncion... all places that have some basic to full services, reached now by paved road (La Bocana is 10 miles from the pavement), and has some Americans living there, should you want some fellow countrymen to visit with.

I am looking for a summer similar to San Diego/Poway, with a winter like Mulege / Loreto / La Paz / Cabo. In my experience summer in Cabo is not as hot as it is in Loreto or La Paz but I've not spent an entire summer in Baja so I don't have enough data to be sure that's generally the case.

To tune it in, what do you like to do and what services would you like to have? La Aguja to Lopez Mateos to Bahia Tortugas: Warm to hot summers, but not high humidity, and mild winters... with just an occasional hurricane for excitement!

so it's cooler in the summer at Lopez mateos or Bahia Asuncion etc, compared to Todos Santos (the one near Cabo)? For the most part I like to relax and scuba dive, but there really are no facilities I know of on the pacific side of Baja Sur for Scuba Diving. If you notice the only areas i've spent much time in at all are BoLA, Mulege, Loreto, Cabo, La Paz. All areas with some sort of scuba diving facilities available.
I guess ideally you just spend summers in San Diego and Winter months in Cabo or something like that. It's nice to dream of a place that has near perfect weather all year around though (for me near perfect is not much cloud cover, mild temps above 65 and below 90, and not much rain). -Roger |

We made the mistake of vacationing in Los Cabos one summer, long ago. NEVER again! We had to plan our movements there around air conditioning.

Wow fantastic. I had no idea someone had setup a dive operation in that part of Baja. It looks like all paved roads into and out of Bahia Asuncion. Is it easy to get to in a regular compact car? Is there somewhere to stay near the beach once we are there, some sort of beachfront hotel similar to the Desert Inn in San Quintin?

For me the best all season weather is right here in Punta Banda. It pretty much mirrows SanDiego proper. never too hot or too cold. and its far enough from the border I feel like I am in Mexico and its a easy drive to anywhere else in Baja.+ more than adequate.shopping
