Default Lack of police presence allows Rosarito tourist to be robbed.

Playas de Rosarito - On their second day as tourists in Tijuana, Jaime Grimaldo Razo and his wife decided to go eat at the Fish and Shellfish Festival in Playas de Rosarito. However they did not count on the lack of police presence before they arrived, which allowed two youths, approximately 17 years old, to grab the chain he was wearing around his neck, right on Benito Juárez Boulevard at noon last Sunday where there was a large crowd of tourists.

In an interview, Jaime said he and his wife decided to go to Popotla, but once in Rosarito they got out to walk on the main street when he felt a pull from two youths who came up behind them and grabbed the chain from his neck. He turned around and tried to chase them. He chased them to an area of condominiums, but did not follow them farther as he wanted to go back to his wife, who had a cut on her arm.

From now on, Jaime should wear a police uniform when he leaves the house. Real cops can't be everywhere at once.

Another thing....if one wants to go into the bowels of Popotla, they shouldn't be wearing the bling. Your bad, Jaime.

Bowels? It's a major Rosarito Beach toursit attraction on a Sunday afternoon in tourist season. The tourist is clearly at fault? Everyone tells tourists Rosarito is safe in the toursit areas during daylight. But these Meixcan tourists should know better? I don't consider a gold neck chain to be "bling", lot's of peole wear them. If he got robbed of his Rolex it would be a tad different. It isn't like the tourist was around in the evening for the nightly panga cruise departures to San Diego...

I think what you mean is tourists in Rosarito Beach should know they are "on their own" and not expect police presence or protection. But do you expect the "Baja Image Committee" to tell them that? The photographer who filmed our magazine shoot told us he wasn't afraid of being a crime victim while down here, he is afraid if something does go wrong there is no one to turn to for help that he can trust." Exactly, and I hear that exact same thing a lot.

In reality the new Mayor Silvano Macklis can only do so much on his own. The drugs are running through Rosarito Beach headed to willing buyers in the USA while the USA is emptying prisons and sending criminal deportees back into Mexico (hundreds are landing here and jokingly call Rosarito "Santa Monica South"). Talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place. If Macklis brings Montero back for security- that could bring us the new "clean" State Security force Montero was sent off to create.

The last person to wear one was John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever.

ohhh ohhhh....You don't still wear one, do you, Craig? No wonder Tila's mad at you....playing that disco music throughout the night.

???

Sorry Dennis. The "???" after your "ROFL" are mine. I hit the wrong button. No edit was made to your post.
Sadly no disco ball at our house. We have that all-day Mariachi thing going on. Isn't Tila the lady who showed up at your hospital bed when you had the stroke and claimed to be your wife? You know, the lady you had escorted out of the hospital? That was a very interesting episode in the Tila files.

What were those words the Doctor used to describe Tila's actions?

NowNow....no reason to get testy.
"Inappropriate" was the word, if memory serves.

BTW...in her defense here.........she wasn't shown out. Only prevented from coming back into my space. She was nice to me when she was there. Don't really know why, but nice.

He might have lost more, if they had gone to Popotla ... can be a bit risky at times ... a rather popular place with ALL kinds of people ....

That whole thing was more funny than anything else. For sure not the stroke part. I just left a note by your book and left the hospital. Had I known I could have stayed around and claimed to be your husband- I would have waited until you got back from your tests. I'm just jealous I guess.

Popotla is the last Mexican Port of Call for those cruise passengers headed to the US

We used have "cruise ships" heading north .... from our location at 44.5 km behind the OXXO ... along with a few other things that are popular in the exporting business, in Mexico .... two homes over from the stairs down to the ocean ........ interesting seeing commerce in action while down

Say, here's an idea, how about wearing $30,000 dimond studs in your ear .... NOW that might draw a little "smoke" .... HUH

Ya can always say you're a "painter" ...... after the loss of the ear ...
