Default TS forming of Cabo.

Looks like we're in for some more wet stuff. Hasn't been named yet, but possibility of this turning into another TS is at 100%
So, get ready. Should be here by tonight.

Figures! I just got the big cactus that Ivo blew over righted! La Paz has been getting light rain for the past 1-2 hours, no winds to speak of.....yet.

Lost power right at midnight & then, a few minutes later, I think a freight train blasted it's way over my hill here in Centenario! EEBMIKE's reporting maximum sustained winds of 45 mph, but the National Hurricane Center is also acknowledging a couple wind stations south of here which registered prolonged gusts of 82 mph....that's closer to what blasted through here than 45 mph!! Though I admit I sit 80-some feet above sea level on a hill with no close structures to block or divert any of the full wind force!

I went out about 10:30 PM & tied my lazy cactus to a column as best I could. I just had help yesterday to get it upright after nearly a week of its taking a siesta! At least I can right it from this position alone! I am NOT looking forward to strike 3 for this ceramic pot that I hauled 2,000 miles to get down here!!

Humidity hit 79% here yesterday....after I lost power (& my fan ), I was contemplating going out to make use of the A/C in my car, but eventually dropped off....stuck to my pillow....occasionally becoming semi-coherent enough to register really high gusts & when I didn't hear the sound of breaking glass, I forced myself to drop off again! Bing's been out several times this AM trying to figure where all that new vegetation debris in our yard came from! I have a few small new arroyos cutting through my yard, but none too serious so I don't think we got all that much rain.

No new storms have stepped in Juliette's wake....so far....so hopefully we'll have a few days respite! Just enough time to clean up this debris before we get lambasted again!

In central La Paz there was a bit of strong wind around midnight, but that's about it. Juliette did cool things off for enjoyable sleeping! From the look of my patio and pool, I don't think we got a drop of rain all night.

10 AM Steady rain in Centenario, rain pouring gurgling out of my gargolas! Absolutely no wind; dead calm.

totally off topic, but I was wondering if you knew "Garagoyle" means "gurgling" in French. A gargoyle is a decorative water diverting device and the sound they make gave them the name Gargoyle. I'll bet you knew that alredy , huh Legs?

Well.....all but the French gurgling part!

The parts of town I went through appear to have gotten off fairly unscathed....I only saw one over-sized billboard crumpled & mangled near Home Depot. Wipers on until I hit town & once again when I left town, thankfully no rain in town so I stayed dry at the bank, pet place & grocery store! Some standing water in town, but a LOT more standing water on the highway outside of town & many areas where 3 of the 4 lanes were under water. My wheel wells were clean until I hit my dirt road!

It started raining downtown after my earlier post. You know, at just about the time I had to go out. There's some standing water, as Legs mentioned, and lots of puddles (often hiding bottomless potholes). I didn't see any damage, but I didn't go far. We have patches of blue sky now, but from the satellite images there could be more rain coming later.

Let he who has never tried to tie a fluffy spear-carrying cactus to a column unassisted in the dark at 10:30 at night cast the first stone!!

Thank you Wiley!!!! I've been here 15 years! I shoulda thought of duct tape first! I guess I won't be up for the Mexican Ingenuity Award this year!

Now "that" would'a been the picture .... 10:30 PM in the wind, rain and dark ... duct taping a cacuts to a pole .... with Bing "observing" ...

Ingenuity is one thing ... "flare" ... whole different category ..

I'm sure duct tape comes in green now. That cactus is one tough character. It's even windy up her in Rosarito with gusts to 15mph kicking up beach sand.

Why? It's not like it's going to run away. Actually it looks kinda tired.

The old man figured it was blowing a steady 50 knots and gusting at Cerritos.

It WAS tired because it'd laid on it's side for a week, since this is what happened to it the preceding week during the mere 25-30 mph winds of IVO!!! By trying it to the column; it WAS in a fully upright position when I tied it; I prevented this from happening again & possible breaking the ceramic pot!
