Default SENTRI Alert - South Dakota Crackdown???

This was from a post on the Punta Banda Newsletter - Don't shoot the messenger:
****************************************************
For my Baja friends, I need to share my recent experience at the Sentri Office.

I went to my appointment on Fri the 13th to add our second car to the SENTRI program.

I gave the officer my S. Dakota car registration and my CA drivers license and had the car inspected and was told I was good to go.

Less than an hour later I got a call from Sentri telling me that I could not have conflicting states and either had to get a CA registration or a S. Dakota drivers license...that I was breaking the law and could have my Sentri pass taken away.

Since I was in CA, I first got the smog certificate (1 hour) and then went to the DMV and got the car reregistered in CA (2 hours).

I went back to Sentri on Mon the 16th and got my new Sentri car certification in half an hour.

Just a heads up for those with S. Dakota registration.

Appear's someone is looking at the smallest of details to get the "money" ...

The cost of most everything is going up ... Now thats something ya don't see often .. HUH

Gosh, was just thinking of what things cost in 1967 ..

WOW the summer of love, and "cheap" too ... $25 dollars a week at Alpha Beta ... equaled eating "high on the hog" ... we got married in 67

Guess, most old timers can't help but look back, we have covered more distance in time ...

There is no new law or changes on the Sentri Website as of Dec 20, 2013 when they posted the qualifications.

What do you think they are going to do with all of us that got our sentris 7 or 8 years ago with a CA DL and other plates like OR and AZ and live in Mexico? Cancel us? I am going to call them tomorrow and ask. If I actually get an answer, I will post it.

Welcome to the modern age of Big Brother. After 9/11, our government not only found breaches in our security, but the extremely poor job they had done in managing data. I am not only talking about the ability to collect information but also to be alble to share that same data across different platforms and varying levels of goverment agencies.

A good friend who recently retired as a senior investigator for the IRS told me that just 10 years ago, to be able to prepare themselves for an audit agents had to collect data from three different systems within the IRS, all incompatible with each other. So you can imagine what it was like to share data from other agencies, all with different platforms and systems.

That has been slowly changing over the last decade.

Starting under Bush and continuing under Obama, congress has passed a series of spending bills, authorizing and directing the updating of systems across nearly all levels of the federal government. Many states are now following that same direction.

Frankly, I am amazed that it actually took this long for the South Dakota plate issue to come to light and is why I decided to just keep my California plates and deal with the hassle instead.

This is not going to go away folks - Big Brother is here and now part of our everyday lives. What was revealed via Eric Snowden (like him or not) was only the tip of the iceberg...
