Default Two Rosarito Beach kidnappings in the last two days...

PLAYAS DE ROSARITO.- An armed and hooded squad, armed with AK-47s, entered a "table dance" on bulevar Popotla, and kidnapped the manager of the establishment while they fired inside and outside, which caused terror among the customers in the tourist zone.

According to police reports, the events happened around 10PM on Saturday at the "Doll House" table dance, located at kilometer 29 on bulevar Popotla.

The squad, made up of five men with black caps, broke in with large caliber AK-47 rifles called "goat horns," they strafed the interior and forced the customers and workers to hit the floor, which caused terror for everybody in the place.

The men headed for the office where they found the manager, named Antonio García Aguirre, 52 years old, who they took with them.

They forced García Aguirre into a red Voyager van and then fired some shots and fled in an unknown direction.

Inside the establishment were found spent 7.62 x 39 cartridges, used by the AK-47. It should be mentioned that the outside sign for the business is very small for the size of the building, and it appears it is a clandestine night club.

Inside are billiard tables and white seats and a space with a pole in the center of the room. The municipal police started an operation, but as usually happens in these cases, they did not find the squad, nor the person kidnapped.

Woooosh Note: We haven't seen anything likethis in Rosarito Beach recently that I can recall. They did kidnap a furniture maker at his factory last year- but nothing violent and in the tourist zone like this event. Yeah, it's a strip club owner who was kidnapped if that matters to anyone. It doesn't matter to me- a legal business is a legal business. They probably tried to extort money from them first. If the bad guys ask for money and you don't pay- this or worse happens. You can't reason with these people and no one is exempt from extortion and kidnapping. You hope you will only have to pay one group for protection, that they leave you enough money to live on, and that someone takes them out of the game so you will (hopefully) be left alone again.

I've heard there are "new players" in the area. I hope the police release more info as the story develops.

Default Two Rosarito Beach kidnappings in the past two days...

Yup, another Kidnapping in Rosarito Beach today- this time very close to our house. Luckily the victim was rescued and only shot once in the leg. Police Chief Montero's men saved the day.

Rosarito, B.C.

Rosarito, B.C. - In coordination with municipal police, state police, soldeirs and ministerial police a kidnapped man was rescued.

A report to Central Command indicated that a group of people pulled a man from his home using large weapons.

The house was located on calle Vía de las Olas, in the Los Angeles subdivision.

The report arrived just as police were driving on bulevar Benito Juárez and saw the two vehicles, a late model white Tahoe SUV and a grey 1995 Cherokee.

They followed them until the driver of the Tahoe got out and pretended he was talking on the telephone, at that moment the police ordered him to lay on the gerund, in an adrenaline-charged moment.

He obeyed the officers and it was then they discovered he had Mr. Francisco Parra Infante, 52 years old, laying on the floor and injured by a bullet to the right leg. Meanwhile the other vehicle, the Cherokee, crossed over the median and fled towards colonia Lucio Blanco, where they escaped by jumping into a trailer yard and then fled in a old grey vehicle.

That vehicle was later found on a street in the same colonia.

Thats CRAZY.... Have they been targeting Americans/tourists ?

I have been under the impression that the gangsters have been told by their bosses to steer clear of tourists... basically tourists are off limits. Even patriotic Mexican gang bosses understand that hurting a tourist would kill whats left of their country's income from tourism and have devastating effects on their countrymen. IE.. The Ensenada cruise ships would stop coming.

You think there is any truth to this???

Tourists are NOT being targeted. This kidnap two streets away from our house was of a Mexican national who came to Rosarito Beach to open a restaurant. I doubt there is anyone in charge telling criminal cells not to target tourists- it's just a mismatch for the way organized crimes take place here. They do reseach on the victim, track his daily movements for weeks, try to extort the money first, and then kidnap as a last resort. The cartels don't care about the Meixcan economy- they killed Acapulcos. The businesses in Ensenada are upset no one got of the cruise ship to shop last time it came to port. Wonder why?

Even if you are not a target, would you feel comfortable living where those around you are being robbed, targeted, kidnapped or killed? Where the police Chief admits he does not trust his own men? Our freinds who won't visit Baja say they aren't afraid of being a crime victim - they afraid if something should go wrong while they are playing toursits there is no one they can trust to help them. A subtle difference I guess...

I wanted to let you know what the Princess Cruise line said to my sister law that is a 20 plus year customer. (She cannot fly due to medical conditions) She was told been they are no longer stopping in Ensenada and they are moving the ship that used to service this area to Asia. My sister in law thought they were stopping in Ensenada on her 10 day cruise this upcoming March since she loves to stop here and they are not planning to stop in Ensenada but San Diego, CA. I am not sure whether the cruises are all stopping or not.
FYI Only this is not confirmed just rumor.

This is not accurate. Princess will continue to stop at Ensenada. According to the Jones Act, a ship that leaves from a US Port and travels in International waters must stop at a foreign port before returning to the US Port.

There was some talk about the cruise lines creatng an alternative Mexican "port" near Enenada to meet those requirements- similar to what Disney does with the private islands they created for their passengers. Not sure what the status of that project is.

What a shame for Mexico. If any venue is poised to help the dismal tourism market in the country, with it's proximity to the US, it's Rosarito. For that reason alone, I can't see why the feds don't clean it up.

I dunno Dennis. What military presence in Baja has been successful? They tried all levels of military in TJ and Rosarito the past several years and all failed to improve security- some actually made it worse. Their plan was then to create a new "clean" security force and work backwards, That didn't happen either. It needs to be cleaned up, but Mexico appears to be fresh out of janitors.

Police Chief Montero needs good men. He's apparently sparring with Mayor Silvano who says thousands of criminals moved to Rosarito the past three years to set up operations. Not sure why the pissing match but the Mayor told the Chief to put on some pants and get to work. Montero was booted three years ago when Trenti was installed as Police Chief. Lot's of nasty infighting going on too. Too bad no one can get it togther,
