Looking at the photo of what he was carrying onboard it paints a slightly different picture. It's not like he got caught with a 38 hidden under the front seat...

For those of you on facebook, follow the conversation there on our TalkBaja page. Unfortunately my current schedule has me out and about most of the day and my only access online is via my iphone. Facebook has a very good smartphone app and I end up spending most of my time there lately...

That looks like a pretty good 3 gun battery, except that it doesn't have nearly enough ammo.
Kinda hard to explain it away as a mistake though, even for a Marine... |

I was in San Diego yesterday and crossed southbound at San Ysidro. The crossing really has changed since Chaparral opened and so I decided to see how easy it would be for someone to "accidentally" cross over into Mexico now.
On top of all the signs, construction markers with flashing lights, concrete barriers reducing the lanes down and the speed bump at the CBP stop sign, you then have to make a hard, 90 degree turn leading you along the tall border fence with more signs, another hard speed bump and finally a 90 degree hard left before entering Mexico. Whether it was your first time ever in your life at the border or if you had made the crossing hundreds of times and day-dreamed through it all, I have (almost) zero belief that you could somehow end up at the gate at San Ysidro crossing accidentally. Just approaching the concrete barriers before the CBP stop signs there is zero chance you could believe you were still on the freeway and that is about a half mile before the Mexico customs gates. The extremely small doubt I have would be if someone were to drive that route either extremely delusional / mentally ill. In that case there is no way in hell they should ever be allowed to have weapons of that type and much less loaded. In my heart I feel sorry for this kid and his family and still hope for a positive outcome. But his story and credibility are crumbling IMHO...

Listen to the Gripping 911 Call From the Imprisoned Marine Moments Before Mexican Police Arrest Him
A last ditch call for help was placed to 911 by Marine Corps Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi, just minutes before Mexican federal officers arrested him for weapons possession when he says he took a wrong turn across the southern border. TheBlaze obtained the 911 call late Thursday night and you can hear the concern in Tahmooressis voice as he tells the 911 operator, The problem is I crossed the border by accident and I have three guns in my truck and theyre trying to take my guns from me. The 911 call appears to confirm Tahmooressis story that he had crossed into Mexico by mistake. The operator asks, So youre in Mexico? Tahmooressi says, Yeah. Then the 911 operator replies, Theres nothing I can help you with sir. I do apologize. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014...ce-arrest-him/ Last edited by domack; 05-16-14 at 11:42 AM. |

The date/time stamp of the 911 call was 11:30PM, an hour after he crossed the border and had his first contact with Mexican customs . By that time he had already talked to the agents, knew he had a problem and had an hour to start to "modify" his story.
The perps who attacked Cristina and I made multiple statements to the police, investigators and the court. Their very first statements made to the police who arrested them (although full of lies) were the closest versions to the truth. With each following statement the story changed to the point of hardly resembling anything that actually happened that day.

The multiple statements / stories offered up by the perps that attacked us will end up hurting them badly I am told by a close friend and insider of the judicial process down here. When the judge starts comparing different people statements and the accused has been proven to have lied, they just toss out everything the accused has said and go by the accusers statements, that is as long as they don't change their side of the story. Making multiple statements that are not consistent is basis to not believe anything you have said down here and a large part of the reason they have you make your statement over and over again to different people in the criminal law process. Our statements have not changed. The perps have changed their stories several times and the judge will use our statements alone for the most part to determine what happened and pass sentence, according to our insider. I fear that Andrew is setting himself up for a similar scenario/outcome...

Sure he is, but what does he know? It should have gone just like the movies, don't say a thing, but he's not in a movie. He's in El Hongo and will say anything to get out. This man is screwed. He did it to himself. |

Barring them discovering evidence that Andrew was either a hit-man or involved with the cartels, I think he will probably be released in a few to several months with the deal worked out at levels we will never know what happened.
What has probably lengthened that amount of time is all the bad mouthing of Mexico and threats of armed extractions. The only thing they have managed to gain with all that is to further sour public opinion down here so Mexico City will now have to let more time pass to allow that sentiment to subside before they can authorize any such release...
