Post Tropical Storm Jimena forms in Pacific Ocean (AP)

AP - The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Jimena has formed in the Pacific south of Mexico.

Jimena is expected to get stronger and could become a hurricane over the next day or two.

Early Saturday, it had maximum sustained winds near 40 mph (65 kph) and was moving west near 12 mph (19 kph). Jimena was centered about 250 miles (405 km) southwest of Acapulco, Mexico, and about 365 miles (585 km) south-southeast of Manzanillo, Mexico.

Looks like it intensified faster than they expected. I bet the track shifts more to the east than they have predicted.

GFDL is usually the closest in the forecast. Maybe Cabo in for it??

I'm with Wooo, I think it'll swing more eastward to come up or over the Sea of Cortez side. My uneducated predictions have been more accurate than those NOAA specialists 95% of the time!

I think everyone on the southern end of Baja is in for some excitement next Tues-Wed! It's times like this that I kick myself for putting in soooo much glass to maximize my views!!

Yes, this one will be very interesting indeed...what we have done here with our south facing windows is we put long threaded bolts into the cement around the 4 corners of he windows and have plywood with the holes bored in them ready to just slide on and tighten the nuts down...works well and is quick and easy.
Before storms many people are running around looking for wood and they run out here...tarps as well. There is alot of preparation to do if it looks like a hurricaine will hit so the plywood being ready is a great help. It is a real mess when your windows get blown out...happened to my husband here years ago and it was a nightmare...we put smaller windows in and cover them now...make sure you have drinking water stored, some food and lots of beer...my 12 volt batteries are all charged up for the little cooler

Smart move. Friends who live in Florida did the same thing with their entire house and can have the whole place battened down and secure in less than three hours. They have gone through three major hurricanes in the last 15 years or so without even so much as a broken window...
