Default PURE BAJA ~ Hurricane Ignacio 8/24 & 8/25/03
CIB (Centro de Investigaciones Biologicas), the Federal research facility next to El Comitan moved their research vessel from the far side of the inner bay & anchored it directly in front of their facility, in hope of safe anchorage the day before Ignacio hit.

In the first pic, you see the boat at anchor in front of the shrimp beds....second pic it's GONE....third pic it's dragging it's anchor to go on an uncaptained joyride (I don't think this is what they mean when they use the term "riding out the storm"!)....fourth pic is where it came to rest up in the mangroves on the point the next morning.

First pic is leading edge of the storm....second is eye approaching....third is in the eye....fourth is the back edge of the storm.

In the grand scheme of things; as far as hurricanes go; Ignacio was a fairly low level display of force. Don't remember, but from the pics, I'd say it was a Cat 1 when it hit La Paz.
