Subject: Earthquake Relief

Dear Friends,

As you know a catastrophic earthquake rocked southeast of the border city of Mexicali , Mexico . The 7.2-magnitude quake struck at 3:40 p.m. It had a shallow depth of 6 miles. Three aftershocks of magnitudes 5.1, 4.5 and 4.3 followed within the hour and dozens of smaller temblors struck later.

Facing the devastation we are asking if you would like to donate any bottled water, caned food, covers, and tents or camping gear etc anything will help the earthquake victims. We will be receiving such donations in the Dr.’s office located at Calafia Hotel, all through Saturday. Dra. Batiz will be taking all the supplies that following Sunday to Mexicali .

Last night I spoke with a friend who went to Mexicali to check on the welfare of family members there, affected by the quake. He tells me that all the images we have seen cannot even begin to tell the true story of this quakes destruction and the number of families left homeless. While the death toll numbers are low when compared to other large quakes in the news, there still exists a great need for humanitarian support.
