Hallo forum,

Okay, my beast of burden, a 90-something buick le sabre, has a gas leak I just discovered. It is a slow drip, drip, drip. I would like to get this diagnosed and hopefully fixed Monday (tomorrow) morning.

Can anyone recommend a mechanic near Alisitos/La Mision?

(edited to add) I will be crossing to the US on Tuesday, and hope to have it fixed before then. I imagine, but don't know for sure, that a gas leak and sitting in the border line for an hour or more might be a bad thing? How dangerous are gas leaks?

Your problem is more serious than you think. You say you will be driving the vehicle as the leak goes on, but this could very easily result in a fire and/or explosion of the fuel system.
This is more than serious....it could be deadly.
Get it fixed before you go anywhere.

(edited to add) Locating a mechanic was not something I did before I needed one. If anyone can recommend something around km 58, I would be grateful.

Where are you Wesson??????.....didn't you have someone in/near Pescador?????

Just woke up...

Okay, someone I met in Baja is going to come look at it, who knows a mechanic/welder, who will probably be available on Thursday.

At least it's motion. Thanks again any and all who have thought about this.

Final update. It is a hole punctured in the gas tank, which will be removed and welded, will take a day because it has to be scrubbed and aired out. Cost: about $100.
Scramble to find a ride for my friend going to the airport taken care of as well.

Whew.
