Finally!! Rain in La Paz!
What's that sound? I know it! It's oh, so familiar to me, but I just haven't heard it for a very long time! It's
RAIN! Sweet warm, much needed rain gushing out of the gargolas! It woke me around 6:30 AM & has been falling fairly heavily ever since. A few rumbling claps of thunder just rolled over, plastering the dogs up against my ankles! Bing is moving from slider to slider, searching for a door where that strange phenomenon isn't screwing with his desire to go outside! And, of course, I have a 10AM appointment in town this morning! |

Re: Finally!! Rain in La Paz!
Same here :)
Except, been sleeping with widows wide open, along with the outside of the house the floors inside got a bit of washing also. Small price to pay I guess as I understand this is the first major rain in this area in years According to the a few of the weather reports we might see some more rain the rest of this week. I think I might turn off the sprinkler system for this week. |

Re: Finally!! Rain in La Paz!
BG, I'm sorry, but Bing can't come to the keyboard right now....he's sulking in a not too hidden "hidey-hole" since I washed his little mouth out with soap for his less than acceptable response to your thoughtful suggestion for rainwear!
CDN_JOHNNY, it should be about the same conditions at your place as mine! Though I can tell you after a trip into town this AM, we definitely got more rainfall out here than they did in town! A LOT less standing water in town & no rain whatsoever until the University just this side of Chametla, where I needed my wipers on fast intermittent a few minutes ago. Yeah, I think it'd be a safe bet to turn your automatic watering system off for at least the next week! |

Another Day / Morning of TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR.
As I type we are getting a huge washing. I imagine the local aquafiers are miling also. |

Re: Finally!! Rain in La Paz!
You beat me to it!! But I was outside taking pics to back up my words! Lest any NOB folks might think we've been SOB too long to accurately recognize the difference between "TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR" versus gentle desert rainfall!
Following are pics to backup CDN_JOHNNY's words! I'm so glad I'm at the top of a hill!! I feel sorry for the people who live in the flatlands where all this water is going to flow down to muy rapido!! |

longlegsinlapaz
Gee is that a river or a street in picture #6? We decided NOT to attempt drive into La Paz today! We figured there would be a few small rivers to cross. There is more to come this week also. Just another day in PARADISE |

Re: Finally!! Rain in La Paz!
In town we didn't get anywhere near as much as Longlegs's photos show. A tiny bit yesterday, off-and-on drizzle most of the day today. I even had to water my trees this evening because the rain didn't make it through the leaves to the soil.

Re: Finally!! Rain in La Paz!
We had lots in town down by the Malecon, two days in a row.
Two days ago it was just in the morning really but it created a few mini rivers. Yesterday had the most though, it rained on and off all day. Really reminds me of England! |

Re: Finally!! Rain in La Paz!
No Rain Today
Not yet anyhow. I was out walking dogs this morning (Volunteer @ Baja Dogs) and I can say that they must of had RIVERS out there. The area is cut up everywhere. On the other side...... Everything is in BLOOM already and there is new Green stuff popping up everywhere. Beautiful Almost does not look like a desert. |

Re: Finally!! Rain in La Paz!
I need to get out to the desert tomorrow and see the bloom. It doesn't really do much in town other than ruin the roads a little more and dirty up my car. But I remember seeing the desert after a big rain last year, it looked really cool.
No rain so far today however the clouds above the Malecon right now look a little grey. Planning to go for a burger at the shack tonight, so I hope it doesn't pour down on us! |

Re: Finally!! Rain in La Paz!
Get ready LEGS
IT is on it's way to you. :) WE have been getting pounded for the past hour. :) LA PAZ from our view must be in a Torrential Downpour. I hope it leaves some roads open, we are heading to Toronto in the morning. I was out at Baja Dogs this morning and the landscape out there has completely changed. River beds where there used to be roads. |

Re: Finally!! Rain in La Paz!
Right, this time it's really coming down here. You could kayak in my street. I'm soaking wet because I had to get leaves out of the storm drain before the patio overflowed into the house. My dog was out there enjoying it but changed his mind when the thunder started. We've had a few loud claps and bright flashes. Trees are happy ... birds not so much!!

Re: Finally!! Rain in La Paz!
We've had two pretty impressive thunderstorms pass over each of the past 2 consecutive afternoons, each bringing small amounts of rain. I think the aftermath makes for pretty sunsets.
I need to get a new date & time battery in my camera, but the first 4 shots were taken within approximately 30 minutes from first to last. Final pic was 24 hours later. |

Re: Finally!! Rain in La Paz!
Yesterday we had rivers on the street again and today was even worse. This is in the areas around the malecon.
Today's rain appears to be from the tail of Hurricane Irene, and it looks like it will continue to be like this for a few more days. Simon

Re: Finally!! Rain in La Paz!
Nice sunsets, Legs. Here in town we had a downpour like last week's, but it didn't last as long. It's unusual to have as much lightning and thunder as we did this afternoon. Bouli was plastered to my legs, and when I took the trash container out to empty it, he dived into its space under the sink (this is a 50 lb. dog). I wanted a photo, but when I went to get the camera, he decided to stick with me.
