It was just announced on the radio here that an alert has been put out for the Ensenada-Tecate road for night time driving. Ice and hazardous conditions are reported to be present on that road at the higher elevations and it will be very dangerous for driving after dark. I know that many of you take that road and wanted for you to be aware.

Drive careful and SLOW DOWN!

Other than that, the road is in good shape. Went up Tuesday and there's only about 500 meters of road work going on.

That is good to hear - I actually might take that route next time we have the chance to head north. Does Tecate have Sentri/Ready lane availability now???

No....only two lanes....which doesn't matter if you pick your time to cross. Tecate, most of the year, is pretty predictable.

Crossed going north this morning about 8:30 am took 30min. the sign said Ready Lane Coming Soon.

We asked about the ready lane sign last time we crossed at Tecate but the agent at the gate said there were no plans he knew of for a ready lane?

I think they did a pilot program for the Ready Lane in Tecate last summer but it was only on weekends. Is it still operating???

Nah.... it's no more.
They probably realized their efforts may appear to have some efficiency.

I don't think so; looks a lot like this shot of the entrance to Sierra de San Pedro Mártir National Park.

Got down to -13ºC up there the past few nights...

If you would have told me this was in Baja Mexico with all that snow I wouldn't have believed it! With an observatory up there its gotta be high. Crazy, but we do have palomar mountain in san diego.

High...for sure....around 13,000 feet.
The view is nice, but you need oxygen and have to hire Sherpas to do your yard work.

We just came back down that way yesterday and it wasn't pretty. There were several spots with rocks on the road and one bad mud slide. I hope they cleaned up the problem areas but be cautious on that road right now.

WOW...maybe some enterprising Mexican or American could put some lifts up there for intermediate skiing and snowboarding....Ski, Surf, or fish...we got it all...

Anybody travelled this road yesterday or today? We are planning a trip north...
