Default New winery and hotel just outside the Valle

Here is a link to a new winery that opened recently just outside the Valle. I believe that it is on the old 'free road' to Ensenada. :

They have nice cabanas for an overnight stay--think 'glamping'--and I wanted to research price and availability so I found the link. We'd stopped by here once to have a look, liked what we saw and thought it'd be nice to stay one weekend. . . . . What a surprise I got!

Nestled in 700 hectares (that's over 1500 acres) of mountains, Cuatro Cuatros is planning a huge residence complex (over 1000 units!) to go along with the cabanas and winery.

When you click on the 'master plan' button, you can see it all. Tennis courts, equestrian area, restaurants, wine bar, social club, heck, they've even planned a heliport for up to four helicopters at the same time. A huge undertaking and a vision to match.

My question: Who is going to live here in the middle of nowhere? Are they targeting wealthy Mexicans from Mexico City who want a piece of the Valle? Are they targeting wealthy Americans from Southern California who want an upscale lifestyle? Or are they targeting a world-wide market of wealthy individuals who want yet another residence?

They should be targeting the guy who sold them all the acid it took to think of this scheme. If there's anything real about this, it would have to be funded by cartel money. Who else would have enough to gamble on something like this?
Don't hold your breath waiting for this one.

Agreed. The owners are supposedly architects from Mexico City, but I don't see how this can add up financially. Maybe they are fabulously wealthy and it's just a hobby? For a cartel to invest in real estate is always risky as those assets are hard to hide and impossible to move.

If you have not been there, you should check it out. I have just passed by on the "free" road several times, but never have been inside.

My wife did a "girls day out" there and said it is a fabulous place and the food was pretty good.

They are not that far out of the Valle or Ensenada, near the turnoff to El Tigre

You can also access it by the "new" road that goes north/east from the free road about 5 miles or so from San Miguel.

Always could. It used to be a tough drive. I haven't been on the road since they improved it.
I need to get out more.
