You're right! I just disposed of the remains of a bird on the back patio this AM!

What is funny is that we have a small chipmunk that eats food from a window ledge where we leave food for him/her. The cats are inside and watch closely from the other side of the glass having fits as the chipmunk eats away happily, almost to the point of egging them on...

There's something even more special about sunrises & sunsets the week before & the week after a hurricane! I hope you enjoy these....I was cleaning the pool, happened to glance up & made a mad dash on wet feet for my camera!

Glad to see you back after the stress of the storm.
The first two of the new photos are fantastic. Thanks for posting them. Do you have any of your indoor waterfall via the skylight? |

Those are great. That is the type of sky a person can stand and stare at for as long as it last.

![]() ![]() ![]() I'm going to have to remedy that with proof positive of the old "Ya snooze, ya lose!" adage, as well as why it's important to keep your camera close & act FAST.... The first 2 pics were taken within less than 60 seconds of each other! Oh, what a difference a few seconds make!! The last pic adds an exclamation mark to the fact. ![]() |

Legs, these are some of the most amazing sunset pics I've ever seen...really, REALLY great shots!
Random question, are there coyotes in La Paz? I've lost 3 cats where I live and I see your "snow flake" there quite content... |

Kate....copyright infringement!!! Fine.......2 dz. mandarinas!
![]() Gaucho....thank you for the compliments on my pics! Yes, there are coyotes in the outlying areas. Also a huge number of jack rabbits, which I've been told can pack a quite wallop. That "quite content" "little snowflake" is pure illusion! ![]() Most recently, just before Christmas, I ended up hauling his pathetic butt into the vet on an emergency basis at midnight! He was in obvious pain & I noticed dried blood at the base of his nose, but no scratch or other external wound. As I was examining him, I noticed dried blood inside the top of his nostrils as well. Vet checked his eyes & said all he could see behind his eyes was red....his skull was filled with blood. He'd suffered a severe impact to the head & his brain was swollen. But no exterior signs of injury or trauma & no skull fracture. He started bleeding through the nose as they were examining him. They put him on vitamin K immediately to stop the bleeding & anti-inflammatory meds for 10 days to bring the swelling in his brain down. It's not likely he'd have survived until morning without medical treatment. He's too skittish to have gotten close enough for someone to have kicked him in the head & I'm pretty sure if he'd have received a glancing blow from a car tire, that some external evidence would have shown up on his white fur. He was in intensive care for 3 days & supposed to have been confined to a kennel for a week at home, but his cries were so pathetic, I closed him up in my room kept constant watch over him. Vet was not ruling out possible brain damage after the swelling went down. I ended up confining my 2 dogs to the kennel at night & Bing split his night sleeping on my bed & in the dog's bed! ![]() ![]() So Bing is happier now being able to go out whenever he wants; the dogs are happier once again having unimpeded 24-hour access to the doggie door; I'm happier I'm not cleaning up after them & have pretty much resigned myself to the fact that Bing most likely will not survive to a ripe old age! But I've always felt quality of life trumps quantity of life. I've watched him on many a full moon night thinking he's operating in full stealth mode, stalking & chasing jack rabbits his size & larger! I've tried explaining to him that his bright white color combined with a full moon do not make stealth very likely unless he happens across a blind jack rabbit in a snow storm, but he's not buying it! ![]() I think street dogs, wild dogs & dog packs, as well as rattle snakes, scorpions & other venomous creatures would be potential explanations for your 3 cats disappearing. ![]() Bonus non-sun pic showing I'm an equal opportunity parent....one little white kid, one little brown kid & one little black kid! ![]() |

well, I just have to show how mis-treated our critters are after that-
ps- as I type this, the 2 large dogs are outside in about 30degree weather, and the cat is sleeping on the bed~~~

it's hard to see but in each pic there is a black blob of fur that is a cat.
The cat lays on the dog beds and the dogs lay around the cat. Even though the cat also sleeps on the couch, the chairs, in many corners, in front of the pellet stove, on the kids' bed, on the parents' bed, in the office (3 traditional places, others as they exist.....) on the towel in the hall that the kid dropped, on the deck chairs out front, in the boat, on the work truck, in the garage,............

Colorful sunsets have ranged from non-existent to unspectacular lately, but tonight's....while not truly spectacular....was worth the effort to go out & capture a few shots. Enjoy!

Wow, I missed a lot of good pics in this thread lately. We had a great sunset tonight also but no pictures...sorry. I'll look at yours instead.
That black gato looks like my little buddy we had for 17 years. |
